DESCRIPTION:Come and join Larry in his personal art glass studio for this fabulous art glass jewelry class.    Limited to just 6 lucky students\, Larry will guide you as you create 8 tiny pieces of art glass jewelry; necklace pendants\, earrings\, cuff links\, pins\, etc.    We will spend a tiny bit of time talking about the technical piece of this\, learn to cut/shape glass and then create!  We'll then load the kilns with our tiny art glass creations for the 14-hour firing process.  Afterwards\, Larry will e-mail pictures of the fired pieces and ask for direction in terms of drilling holes\, attaching earring bails\, etc.  Once your pieces are done\, they're ready for pickup!  Fun and non-technical\, you'l have to prepare yourself\, when the pieces you're wearing get admired\, to say "I made it myself"!

DESCRIPTION:Learn the art of fused glass and make a beautiful glass sushi dish set.  We will make a 10 x 10 sushi plate and a matching 2” x 3” wasabi dish. DESCRIPTION:Regardless of whether you do mosaics\, stained glass\, leaded glass\, fused glass\, small-volume picture-framing or small glass jewelry\, glass cutting skills are important.  Come to Oil and Cotton for this two-hour class with Artist Larry Pile (AKA The Kessler Craftsman).  Larry will bring plenty of oil-fed hand cutters\, running pliers and grozers\, some electric tools\, straight edges and practice glass.  The class will start with learning to cut and run straight lines\, then move to curved lines in everything from simple clear glass to opaque art glass.   Larry will also show you how to cut thin strips\, circles\, use a water-fed ring saw for intricate cuts.  He’ll also show you how to smooth the edges of your cut glass using either a diamond grinder or a hand-held alundum stone.   You’ll walk out of Oil & Cotton with a fabulous start in glass cutting!

DESCRIPTION:This class\, held at the Kessler Craftsman's studio\, in North Oak Cliff\, in the heart of the Kessler Park Historic Neighborhoods\, is a fun\, non-technical introduction to making fused art glass jewelry.  Limited to 8 lucky students\, class participants spend 2-3 hours under the watchful guidance of Larry Pile\, creating beautiful\, one-of-a-kind art glass jewelry pieces.  Students create 8 pieces of art glass jewelry\, from this selection of options:   Fused Art Glass Pendant  Fused Art Glass Earrings (Pair counts as one piece)  Fused Art Glass Cuff Links (Pair counts as one piece)  Fused Art Glass Brooch or Pin  Fused Art Glass Ring  Fused Art Glass Hair Pin/Bobby Pin  All tools\, materials\, glass and findings are provided in this class.  Students are guided through a variety of art glass techniques\, only focusing on glass shaping and placement\, design and use of color.   We then load one of the big computerized glass kilns and beging the 14-hour firing process.  Once our pieces have cooled\, each student receives an e-mailed picture showing their finished glass pieces\, with an inquiry about placement of jewelry findings.  Students can opt for sterling silver pendant bails\, sterling silver French wires or sterling posts\, silver-plated cuff link or clip-on earring findings\, brooch/pin or bobby pin findings or silver-plated adjustable ring findings.  Once the pieces are complete\, generally in a couple of days\, the finished pieces are available for pickup from the artist.  Unlike many classes\, this class focuses purely on the artistic/creative processes without requiring that the student learn the technical skills(use of a computerized kiln\, grinding/polishing/drilling glass\, gluing\, etc).   Kessler Craftsman will do all of the complex technical work\, including firing the pieces and attaching jewelry findings to the finished art glass pieces.  This class is suitable for ages 7+\, although the participation of an adult is required for humans 14 and younger.  If you can muster up at least 6 friends\, Kessler Craftsman will also hold a custom class for you\, even traveling to your Dallas/Fort Worth location and doing the class in your home or workplace.  Contact the artist for more information!

SUMMARY:Fused Sushi Plate Class - Kessler Craftsman Studios
DESCRIPTION:This fun class allows up to 8 lucky students the opportunity to come into Larry's Kessler Park Studio and each create a 10" x 10" square/curved sushi plate and matching wasabi dish....whether you use it for sushi or not is up to you!  The instructor will supply all glass\, materials and teach students enough techniques to create one 10" x 10" plate.  These will then be loaded into one of the large computerized glass kilns and fired for approximately 14 hours\, then placed in a mold and slumped\, or heated into a gently curved shape.  Students will have choice of several different styles and colors\, so that their work of art is truly one-of-a-kind.  This class is suitable for humans 12 years old and up.  Students under age 15 must be accompanied/supervised by an adult.  This class fills up fast!  Call the instructor to reserve your spot!
